General Rules

Double Five Kent Motor Club

(Affiliated to the RAC, ACU (SE Centre) & North Kent Trials Combine)

1. The club shall be called the "Double Five Kent Motor Club".


2. The object of the club shall be to further the sport of motorcycling in all its aspects and to promote other suitable sporting or social activities traditional and modern. It shall be totally unbiased with regard to politics, religion, race and sex.


3. The club shall meet bi-monthly at a predetermined place and time, usually at the club headquarters from 8:15pm until 10.45pm.


4.1 Any person, male or female, of 6 years of age or over is entitled to apply for membership of the club by completing the appropriate form and returning it with the current annual subscription fee to the clubs treasurer.

4.2 Any Member whose conduct may be considered prejudicial to the interests of the Club or its Members may have his membership revoked. The suspended Member has the right to appeal.


5.1 Subscriptions, which are reviewed annually, to be paid on joining and thereafter on the first day of January each year. A reduced subscription is levied when joining the club after 31st June.

5.2 Failure to pay the annual subscription within one month of the date due will mean that the member will be deemed to have resigned.


6.1 The Committee shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, and a General Committee Member plus a Secretary for each of the following as and when deemed appropriate. Trials, Enduro, Motocross, Grass Track, Road Racing and Social and an Assistant Secretary. All Committee members shall be fully paid up members.

6.2 The Committee shall meet at least once per month to discuss club business. In the event of an impasse the Chairman shall have the casting vote.

6.3 The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members to the committee as deemed necessary.

6.4 The Committee shall be empowered to appoint Sub-Committees and delegate functions to such Sub-Committees. The decisions of such Sub-Committees shall not be binding until ratified by the Committee proper.

6.5 Any Committee member may be asked to resign from the Committee as a result of a unanimous vote from the fellow Committee members. In this case another full member may be co-opted to take the place of that member until the next new Committee is elected.


7.1 The Annual General Meeting will be held on the December club night.

7.2 The officers of the club shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

7.3 All positions on the Committee are held for one year only and these positions are open to all full members for election each year.

7.4 New nominations for the positions must be received by the Chairman one week before the Annual General Meeting. It shall be deemed that retiring officers offer themselves for re-election. Those officers not seeking re-election must notify the Committee in writing at least one month prior to the Annual General Meeting.

7.5 Any member may nominate any other member and subject to that member’s agreement he shall be seconded by one other member. All nominated members must be present at the Annual General Meeting. If any nominee is not able to be present, then confirmation of acceptance of nomination must be given in writing.

7.6 Voting for all positions with more than one nomination will be by voting slips which will only be issued to full members. A simple majority will decide the elected members.

7.7 Annual Reports and Balance Sheets will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

7.8 Any motions to be presented at the Annual General Meeting must be given in writing and presented to the Secretary 14 days prior to the Annual General Meeting. A two-thirds majority will be required to carry these motions.


8.1 A Special General Meeting may be convened by the Committee or at the written request of at least ten members. Details of the motion to be presented and the place and time of the meeting will be given in writing to all Members at least 7 days prior to the Special General Meeting.

8.2 No member or members shall contract or incur liability on behalf of the club without prior sanction of the Committee.

8.3 All cheques issued on behalf of the Club must bear the signature of at least two previously appointed Committee Members.

8.4 All club property whether static or mobile is under the direct control of the Treasurer and may not be bought or sold by anyone for any individual gain, as such properties belong essentially to the club and all its members.

8.5 The Club and its Officials shall not be responsible for any injury incurred by any club member or relatives or friends of a club member who may be attending any club function whether it be for the purpose of business, social or sporting. Nor shall the club accept any responsibility for any damage occurring to the properties of the aforementioned persons, which may occur as a direct or indirect result of attending a club function or club business.

8.6 The Committee shall be authorised to decide any question for which no provision is made in these rules. A full copy of the original rules of 1944 are to be kept and may be referred to as a guide in helping to resolve any matters that may arise in the future.
